So Kim Davis was given an award by some family group for her brave stand against gay marriage, her wonderful moment of “giving glory to God.” Apparently, she even got a meeting with the pope out of the deal.

I don’t mean to be insulting about this, but honestly, doesn’t it seem pathetic that the Christians imagine a creator of the universe, a being of supposed perfection and love, the universal moral compass, to be “glorified” by refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples? Does that sound like the actions of the creator of the universe? To me, it sounds like how a petty tyrant of the Bronze Age would act, a being thought up by uneducated, parrochial men. Taken with all the other nonsensical laws and reprehensible things in the OT, doesn’t this seem the more likely scenario?
