ADVERSITY IN PRISON

Prison itself is a long line of adversity, of course, especially when you grow up here like I did. And adversity can be good if you have the right attitude. It teaches you to deal with things. I imagine that when I get out in October, most of the challenges of daily life are going to seem like a breeze to me, after the shit I’ve dealt with in here. But at the same time, prison can also put you in routine-mode, to where you come to depend too much on routines. So it may also be good to shock yourself out of normal routines and preconceived notions … kind of like the adversity I’m dealing with now in trying to find a place to live upon release. Either way, at least the experience is teaching me things about others and myself.
