Hello, my name is Dick Oppen.
I am 47 years young living life on lifes terms.
My body is in prison for some past mistakes but my mind is free.
Like the men in uniform say, I Think it was the marine corps….
“Improvise, Adapt and Overcome”!
Over the last twenty years I have taken program
after program to become a better person.
In 2010, I completed my paralegal degree
with blackstone career institute.
In 2012 I recieved my Toastmasters DTM
and Area Gov of the year award.
I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
Now that peope have invested in me and my education,
its time for me to pay it forward.
Albert Einstein once said,
” Try not to be a man of success, but rather a man of value” .
Which brings me to talk about the program I am building.
It’s called”SHIP”. SHIP stands for:
Self-Esteem for the
Handicapped
Inside
Prisons.
Yes I am handicapped but not disabled.
I will not let my disability define me.
This is were I learned to improvise adapt and overcome.
I am sort of the self proclaimed embassador of the handicapped inside prison.
I plan to use this blog to share my journey and attract like-minded
people.
Please feel free to contact me. My info is on the CONTACT page.
I welcome any help / mentoring I can get.
Thank you and have a nice day. And always be kind to one another.
