Another Day Down by: Mr. Da’Von Joshua Motley Sr.

There are days that just seem to just linger around and never end. Maybe it’s a rainy day, or even a sunny day but its just not your day lol. Well.. today has NOT been one of those days. I can say that while though I’m incarcerated I still try to stay busy as possible. I try to write now more than ever because I know that its people that can benifit from what I have to say. In fact a few of the guys that I build with put together a little book and got it spun up through Amazons “create space”. The book is called Answered In Ink. Its mainly about things thats wrong in communities and ways to fix them. I personally have two pieces in the book. One is about happiness and the other is about holding yourself accountable for your actions. So check it out when you have a chance to. At the moment and ever since 2014 I’ve been apart of an international organization, Toastmasters. Many of you may or may not know what Toastmasters is. Toastmasters is an organization that focuses its attention on helping its members become leaders. To become a leader you would need effective communication skills. These skills may come in handy in many walks of life. In here we have a Gavel Club (Reveille Gavel Club) here at the Youngstown, OH prison (Northeast Ohio Correctional Center). In this club we have about 25 members and we all give speechs every Thursday evening. In fact I have a speech tomorrow evening. My speech is to “Uplift the spirit” and thats what I entend to do. I actually plan on becoming a successful motivational speaker when I get released from prison. Anyway I say all of this because I filled my day with task and I try to do that everyday. I’ve been a board member to this Gavel club and also at my previous location in Toledo, OH and with these positions theres duties that need to be done. From planning events to making sure finances are in order and many other things. I feel dispite being in prison there are many things that can be done to prepare someone to become apart of society again. I can be a program or it can be simply blogging and just letting your mind free itself. I say another day down because I really feel like I’m very close to being with my kids again and I can only take it a day at a time. On another note I included a picture. I just finished cutting my own hair because I also want to start a barbershop also. Another day down people, another day down!! Be safe out there, stay focused, stay driven, stay positive, and productive… please.

ps. Help the little people, the kids are our future and they need the guidence!!
