MUSLIM AS PRESIDENT?

Dr. Ben Carson, a Christian, has caught heat for saying he wouldn’t vote for a Muslim president, because Islam isn’t in line with the Constitution. A fair enough point, but neither is Christianity. The god of the Bible is not a fan of the first amendment, for example, in particular freedom of religion. The first four of the Ten Commandments have nothing to do with morality and are instead warnings to be subservient. And a grand total of three of the Commandments are against the law in America. And the way many Christians act in this country, trying to force their religious rules on others (by trying to make gay marriage illegal, for example) isn’t consistent with the personal liberty guaranteed in the Constitution.

So the question is not what religion a presidential candidate might have, but whether it informs his political beliefs, and whether he or she believes in the proper values that define America: secular humanist values.
