Most of the guys who leave here and come back always talk about it’s often too hard out there for an ex-con to make it. Well, I’m going to put this to the test in less than 17 months. I’ll be an ex-con with nothing but a high-school education (officially, anyway), a First-Degree Murder on his record, and having all of his adult life and experiences behind bars. Nonetheless, I’m going to prove that nonsense wrong. There will be challenges, yes, but the really hard part is not the outside world; it’s us. Changing ourselves. And I have that part done already.
