TIME IN PRISON

Share

One of the most common things you here inside is: “What’s the hurry? You got nothin but time.” Guys will sleep 12 hours a day (this is called doing “half-time”). The point is to waste as much time as possible, to whittle your sentence down.

But I’ve found that the opposite is the correct outlook. I hurry everywhere. My time is valuable. There are so many productive things I can be doing, things to better educate myself or improve myself in some way. I try to treat every day, every moment as this opportunity and gift. In fact, now that I’m getting fairly close to my release date, I sometimes find myself with not enough time! There are still things I want to do to be prepared. Weird but true. Go figure.

  1. It’s interesting how people (me included) do “half-time” on the outside as well. It’s like we are in our own mental prison. We need to learn by your example and stop wasting our life away.

I wish you the best of everything on your release day!
