COMMING HOME AFTER 26 YEARS

IM GETTING RELEASED AFTER SERVING 26 YEARS OF MY LIFE IN PRISON.

I ENTERED THIS SUB-CULTURE AS A 16 YEAR OLD PUNK-ASS KID AND NOW IM LEAVING AS A 43 YEAR OLD MAN.

WHAT IS THE WORLD LIKE NOW? IS THERE ENOUGH ROOM OUT THERE FOR ME TO FIND MY WAY? WHERE CAN I FIND A JOB? WHO WILL HIRE ME WITH LITTLE TO NO SKILLS AT ALL?

I WANT TO SUCCEED. I DONT WANT TO STRUGGLE. I WANT TO RAISE A FAMILY OF MY OWN. I WANT TO BE A RESPECTED MEMBER OF SOCIETY.

WHO WILL HIRE AN EX-CONVICT? WHO WILL LOOK PAST MY PAST AND SEE THE MAN THAT I AM TODAY?

WILL I BE ABLE TO LOOK PAST MY OWN EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS, SUCH AS COUSINS, UNCLES AND AUNT’S WHO LEFT ME FOR DEAD THINKING THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO DO ALL OF MY SENTENCE?

JUNE 1st 2014 , WASHINGTON PASSED A NEW LAW INTO EFFECT WHICH ALLOWED FOR GUYS WHO COMMITTED THEIR CRIMES AS JUVENILES TO GET RELEASED AFTER SERVING A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE OF MURDER YOU COMMITTED.

I WILL BE GOING TO MY EARLY RELEASE HEARING IN EARLY JANUARY, OR AT THE LATEST, EARLY FEBUARY.

SOME OF MY FAMILY THOUGHT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DO ALL OF MY SENTENCE, WHICH WAS 75 YEARS! INSTEAD IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE GETTING RELEASED AFTER 26 YEARS.

FROM THE WAY THAT THE NEW LAW READS, THE PAROLE BOARD CAN ONLY DENY RELEASE IF THE BOARD CAN PROVE THAT I WILL COMMITT THE SAME CRIME AGAIN. THEY HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PROVE THIS BY A PROPONDERENCE OF EVIDENCE.

HOW CAN YOU LEGALLY PROVE THAT SOMEONE WILL KILL AGAIN? AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT ASSAULTTING PEOPLE AND ARE NOT DOING DUMB SHIT AND GETTING A WHOLE BUNCH OF PETTY INFRACTIONS FOR STUPID THINGS, THERE SHOULD BE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT RELEASE.

IF YOU’RE NOT KNOWN BY STAFF AS AN AGGRESSIVE PERSON OR PROVEN TO BE A THREAT, THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO ORDER YOUR RELEASE.

AS FAR AS HOW I WILL DEAL WITH THOSE WHO HAVE LEFT ME FOR DEAD….. I’M NOT SURE, BUT IF I WANT PEOPLE TO LOOK PAST MY OWN PAST, THEN PERHAPS I NEED TO LOOK PAST THEIR ACTIONS AS WELL.

UNTIL THE NEXT TIME, BE SAFE OUT THERE.

  1. Believe in yourself first. What they think doesn’t matter. You made it out of prison after 26 years. You can do anything! Only your mind limits your opportunity to begin a new life. The world is yours. Don’t consider yourself an “exxon”. Consider it a fresh start on life. Peace to you and good luck!
