Ever Have Trouble Explaining How You Feel? by James Carlson

Share

Do you ever have trouble explaining how you feel or putting in words what you mean or want to say? I know I do. But there are moments in your life that illustrate what you are feeling about people and things. This happened to me this past week. I was watching the Democratic Convention. At the end of the Vice President nominee acceptance speech, Tim Walz, his son (Gus) jumped up, clapping, crying, and shouting, “That’s my dad! That’s my dad!” Perfect love of a son towards his father. That event illustrates exactly how I feel toward my surrogate family (Richard, Ellen, and Janet). I wish that I could show them my love in actions (not just words) like coach Walz’s son did. So, this is me jumping up, crying, clapping, and shouting that Richard, Ellen, and Janet are my family! That’s my family! They are my family and I love them and think about them daily. Because of them my relationships have greatly improved. They have given me a chance for companionship that I have completely missed with my biological family. They never abandoned me or left me for dead. They never let me be the misfit that I labeled myself. I’m no longer that 16 year old kid that my biological family tossed out like trash. No longer am I my biological family’s secret swept under the rug. No longer living a misfit life!

So, do you ever find moments that illustrate how you feel? Do you say it or keep it to yourself? What do you want the whole world to know about you and how you are feeling? Are you King Misfit like I was? Are you Captain O.C.D? Did your family abandoned you? I call all misfits if you are angry to forgive, if you feel guilt to confess, if you are greedy to give, and if you are jealous to celebrate because life no longer owes you or God no longer owes you.

Today, just make one person feel better. Listen to just one person. Give one person a few minutes of your time. And say, “Hello!” to just one person today. By the way, “Hello! To my 1 or 2, or how many readers do I have today?
