It has taken government officials, congress included, just over a hundred years to create the World’s Largest Underground Drug Market. It leads any reasonable person to wonder if prohibition is a bigger problem than drug use.
We know humans have used drugs as far back as 7000 B.C. in the ancient kingdom of Samaria. They called poppy plant juice “gil” meaning joy.
Although every country has drug users, no other country has created such devastating issues from it as the U.S. The U.S. is the only country that has deprived users of treatment, criminalized their illness and simultaneously instituted vicarious liability on the capitalists. This idiotic approach has created a trillion dollar underground market where profits go abroad to fund terrorism, users must rob, steal and kill to treat their illness and the general public is victimized by political agendas.
Most of the U.S. crime problems can be easily traced to prohibition. Before prohibition these issues did not exist.
Congress started down this dead-end street back in the early 1900’s with the creation of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and the Harrison Act. Before such, the only narcotic REGULATED by the federal government was opium in a form for smoking. Even then it was only a tax until the Jones-Miller Act of 1909 made it illegal.
At that time, there weren’t any where near the criminal problems of today caused by prohibition. Those addicted to drugs were treated by the medical profession. That method did not created an underground market, nor destroy millions of families.
Congress and the Supreme Court decided to shut down these clinics and deny users medical treatment, forcing them into an underground market. Webb, 249 US 96; and Behrman, 258 US 280, essentially ended doctor treatment for addiction.
When items become illegal it adds enormous cost, as much as 1,000 times. This created the current situation this country now faces: cartels killing for the enormous profits; illegal immigrates fleeing wars in Central and South America; and entrepreneurs in a race to develop new deadlier substances (fentanyl) to skirt the law; fictitious federal laws to kidnap and rob minorities.
Even after they had reports and statistics proving beyond all doubt that prohibition does NOT affect drug use and was having disastrous consequences on the Nation, congress continued down this dead-end street by enacting the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act, applying it without constitutional authority. Contrary to the name, it has not prevented and has actually contributed to drug abuse deaths.
Government officials knew better, they tried with alcohol with the exact same results. At least with alcohol they came to their senses, after not too long, and stopped the self-destructive prohibition.
What has congress accomplished with a hundred years of drug prohibition: the World’s largest drug market; the World’s largest population of drug users; the World’s largest prison population; the World’s largest population of children abandon due to incarceration; the World’s highest crime rate. Land of the free, home of the brave has been turned into land of the incarcerated, home of the political coward. Those that continue to kidnap and murder black people under this fraud do so knowingly and willingly! Biden wrote most of these laws, Kamela prosecuted and Obama refused to stop it, so why would any reasonable person vote for their own destruction!
