SOMETIMES WE GOT TO TAKE A SEAT TO TAKE THE RIGHT STAND, by John McWhorter

IF we’ve learned anything from the late great Rosa Parks, I would think taking a seat would be it. Preferably a white man’s seat. Considering your history spoke like we didn’t belong here. The last time I checked slavery’s grimy past is how we became currency and sold to the highest bidder. So yes, that’s how we got here. But as much as I would like to spend this moment holding your feet to the fire, my message is for those who’s been brought here to take your seat. And if your seat has always been my seat, then I guess we understand who truly belong here.

NOW consciously I speak about a seat referring to all the times we were overqualified but rarely elected. Taking into account in recent years former President Barrack Obama is my fondest exception. And he didn’t take any seat, he took the President’s seat. Quite frankly, he took a seat at the head of the United States of American Oval office. Yes, very fascinating, but he took a seat as a husband before that, and then a seat as a father before that, and then he took a seat as a law student the time before that, and he took a seat as a Blackman in America the time before that.

” SOMETIMES WE GOT TO TAKE A SEAT TO TAKE THE RIGHT STAND “.

IT is time for Black America to take another seat. The prophet George Floyd took a seat so we can stand. George Floyd died in a cross, and on a cross through life, so that we can stand, and make it out of the cross, in this life. Black people it’s time to take another seat before we stand. Systematic systemic change starts with racism, but it ends with equality as in the election of government officials that look like us. Not in skin color but in political agenda. Not in plasma but in policy writers. Please take your seat so we can stand.

LASTLY, don’t move from your seat. At least not until qualified people can sit while you stand. “Black Lives Matter” is not standing on accident because “all lives” didn’t matter. All lives matter was sitting while Black men’s lives were being taken. The last time I checked the Black Lives Matter movement is about equality for all, but especially equality for black folks who never seen civil or constitutional equality. Therefore, instead of trying to distract us with this stepbrother organization. You should provide us a space to take a seat. You should recognize that we belong here. And more than that, support our noble cause for why we stand, and why we will continue to stand. Please take a “Seat”!
