I just attended an award ceremony for our job here in prison, where inmates workers were recognized for their committments to the job. There were many civilians there, as well as Michael Santos, a man who did 25 years in prison and now spends his time going back to speak to inmates about change. The whole experience was really a little positive interlude, a change from the bad attitudes and feelings that are so common around here. And it gives me a idea of what is possible for someone like Santos, since I will be out there soon after almost 20 years.
