This place went on full lockdown in March of 2023 and remains on limited modified movement. Media only reports a limited amount of what’s really going on behind the walls of the oldest prison in the Midwest. In the wake of the lockdown the FBI started an investigation probe on all the “drugs and cell phones” being smuggled in, and Dodge Co. Sheriff started investigation into inmate deaths. Today the inmates “cheered” as breaking news interrupted our TV announcing the arrest of WCI Prison Warden Randal Hepp and 14 other correctional staff members from Captains, Sgt. and HSU staff for multiple felonies leading to the homicide of an inmate.
Still today we remain on lockdown with a maximum of 2 showers during a good week and 2 hours of rec. The balance of the week we are locked in a 5×9 cell, we must eat, crap, birdbath, etc. in the small cage. Guys with no TV or radio are stuck with no access to the library and books are not passed out.
In Feb. 2024, I did a short stint in the hole RHU for making HOOCH, while in the hole we lost a fellow inmate whom was also in the hole, inmates could hear him cry for 3 days, his water was shutoff and he died, his death is being considered a Homicide, he had only 7 years left of a 24 year sentence. My first 5 days in the hole were no joke, the staff withheld my prescribed medication from me, causing me to get sick and faint of high blood pressure. The following week I was allowed to go to the law library in RHU, because my pending appeal. The law library is a desk in a cell with a computer inside a cage. They handcuffed me to the desk, lock the cell door and forgot about me for 4 hours, unable to reach the emergency call button 8 feet away. When I was finally able to get their attention, last meals were over, and being in the hole, there’s no canteen.
