Take The Wheel, by Josh Blount

Share

I’m currently in the Recovery while incarcerated program here at ISO. For our progression work we go through the 12 steps of NA program pretty thoroughly. I’m in the process of working through step 7, we humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings. One of the questions was,”How do I feel my Higher Power is caring for me?”

When thinking of an answer, this scenario came to mind. Your on a long road trip and you’ve been driving for a long time. You finally pull over and let someone else take the wheel. You kick the seat all the way back, put your feet on the dash and relax.

It can be a wonderful release to let someone else drive the car. Just don’t be a backseat driver! When we give up some of the control and truly have faith that God will take care of us is a great feeling. There is power in surrender!

  1. And that is the truth! Matthew 11:29 “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” The gentle and humble in heart is the way in which God deals with us. Blessings!

  2. Hi Josh,

    Surrender… that is the key!
We had a visiting preacher, about 3 weeks ago and his title was Password. And he asked the question, do you know what the password is? And he said, it is Surrender.
