Age: 35
Arrested: 2002
Release: 2030

I was a scared, stupid kid when I first came to prison. It saved me from hurting anyone else or further hurting myself. It was the best thing that could have happened to me.

My life is now about work, growth, service and connection. I have a great job doing electronics work and I volunteer in a program for prisoners struggling with mental health issues.

Facilitating programs and working with guys one-on-one has allowed me to build connections and be of service inside. Writing has allowed me to connect with people outside, building new relationships and learning from others as I share my experience.

I am grateful for the opportunities I have and for the people who have helped me become the man I am. Just as people saved me from myself and helped me find a path that works, I hope to share my experience with others that they might find a different way.
