Why will i continue to be faithful to my spouse, why will i forgive & love all, why will i not sell drugs again but legally work for what i need & desire? These are a few rhetorical questions i ask in my mind at times just so i can respond in joy w/the joy of being free from the darkness of this world & my selfishness while now being in intimate willing bondage to the one i can trust at all times.
Read Psalm 37:3.
Throughout this psalm there are various pics that provide the assurance of God’s victory, not only His eternal plan, but also in & thru the lives of His precious saints.
Trust is the most basic of the characteristics of our relationship w/the Lord & sets the foundation of all the rest. The Hebrew word carries the meaning of confidence, or boldness, & is often used in such a way that it would imply that we are to “gain support” & “lean on the One” in whom i trust. More definition of trust is found in Proverbs: Trust in the Lord w/all your heart, & lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, & He shall direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord & depart from evil. It should be health to your navel, & marrow to your bones. (Prov. 2:5-8).
But merely having great confidence in the God of creation is not enough. We must “do good”. The book of James is devoted to this theme, “Faith w/out works is dead” (James 2:20). “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord & do not the things which i say?” (Luke 6:46). “O that there were such heart in them,” God told Moses, “that they would fear me, & keep my commandments always, that it might be well w/them, & w/their children for ever!” (Deut.5:29).
If we desire to enjoy the blessings of God, we must embrace the plans & principles of God. If we are to expect the promises, then we must submit to the instructions of our Lord, who told us to “seek ye first the Kingdom of God, & His righteousness, & all these things shall be added unto u” (Matt. 6:33).
Before 2012, i didn’t trust God & couldn’t because i didn’t know Him. Before 2006 i put my trust in self & in plenty of ways, the streets, females(sex), drugs & money. At times the momentarily pleasures lasted just long enough to build a false hope of a lasting joy, peace & victory which always ended up disappointing me or someone else. The truth & love of God never disappoints those who desire & go after a true & greater love, peace & joy, but it will disappoint those who is of the word & continue to seek the pleasures of the world. i’m tired of being disappointed & a disappointment & God has shown me He’s worthy of being trusted.
