I would like you to know that I won FIRST PLACE in the Black History Essay Contest, with the essay I placed on the blogging site titled “Black Leadership”. I received 100% and the congratulatory words of, “Very good–good structure,” and a “Good intro,” compliment as well. I’m proud of myself; I have to pat myself on the back. I knew it was good, but I wasn’t expecting first place.
Honestly, I feel that if I wouldn’t have placed in one of the TOP THREE spots, I would’ve disrespected the time and teachings of my English Professors: Ms. Fisk, Mrs. Burrows, Ms. Anne Rice and Mr. Whitty, my Oral Communications Professor, because he taught me the fine art of Public Speaking, and we had to read our essays out loud in front of an audience in an auditorium.
Even with me being out of the writing loop for some time now, I felt, at least, second, or third place was attainable. This was the first writing competition I ever entered, and I won; go figure 🙂 . I have no idea what the First Place prize is going to be; but, truthfully, I don’t think I’ll ever see it, but I won, nonetheless, and I’m happy about that. But I would still like to receive what I’ve earned.
From here on out, I know I’ll be entering into every last writing competition they have to offer here, or anywhere else that I can find. If any of you readers know of any, please let me know. I have to keep my brain working towards something positive in order to stay focused on MY main objective, which is MY FREEDOM. I’m trying to make it home by 2020, or 2021 at the latest.
