Creating an space to erase the struggles, that weighs me down
Looking in the mirror to see an image, of seeking excellence
Knowing the power of intelligence, to share to my neighborhood and residence
Showing the power of my walk, the thumps of my boots, creating sparks
Which life in time reaches knowledge, that create fireworks
To those that seeks in fullness, within the heart
Never let your dream die, never detained, keeping that vision aimed in that direction
Always take that minute to think
Because failure always comes off that first reaction
And life gone, off a few seconds
My down time created a man who found his true talent
Sittin’ down, I messed around and witnessed United States first black President
I’ll never say anything irrelevant
I’m alive, survived, full of wisdom, and not ashamed to vent
Create in your down time, and make this stand still world shake…my down time creates
– This poem was written from a busy life of always moving. If I would of just sat down, I probably would be experiencing free life as of today. Now incarcerated, I will let my down time create more knowledge and understanding, and a better tomorrow for me.
