INMATE POEMS

“You are Mine” by Jennifer DeMott

“You Are Mine”

Like grass pushing through
broken concrete
the memories flood through
Hippocampus.

I worship you
I remember this pain
You’ve imprinted yourself on me
made your mark
You’ve written your name
on my heart

I could be stripped
to the bone,
exposed at every nerve,
and even if I don’t wake
I’ll take you with me.
