SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY, POLITICS AND POEMS BY TRAVIS SMITH

A POEM
A COLD NIGHT
the feeling is still there , but it is of no matter
will it prove just an evanescent emotion if I try to release it into the cold night perhaps to be carried away by a flowing breeze
no need to try to express such a ineffable feeling of unrest
it would only become just another poetic jumble of words
left with the need to put them together and the message only inferred
is there such a soul in this world that might understand my pain
could it be her
as I look up into the dark , I wonder will this be the night , where it takes flight
will the sky take it from me and let the feeling soar into its eternal emptiness
per chance to lessen this pain in my heart
the stars stare back down at me in the cold night , with their distant shining eyes
and all I can see is a reflection of her beautiful face , and to set this feeling free might lessen the power of this
I can only smile and realize that is not a vision I wish to erase
