My Nigger or My Nigga is not endearing By Roderick Earl

Nigger or Nigga may be defined as a word used as a stigma or symbol which is characteristic of inferiority. It is not synonymous with man; i.e it does not mean–man… A word not only used as a tool, but as a nickname for the people of the “black” race. A word used to foster the ideas of inferiority and inequality of mankind. Nigger or Nigga has been made one of the most disgraceful words in the English language. It is infamously abominable. But the “black” man does not realize how harmful the word really is. He has lost sight of the demoralizing aspect of the word and consoles himself with the thought — “well no matter what I am called, I am still a man.” But the lack of unity, of fighting spirit and cooperation, the submission to abuses and lack of unified means of defense, all are connected with the evil use of the word.
Check the vibe from this ” I killed that nigga” as opposed to “I killed that man” one sounds like a rightful act, fate and the other sounds and feel incredibly wrong. one sounds like a person that was law breaking, not caring about himself or others, under the influence of negativity. While the other sounds like a law abiding hard working, caring and loving person under the influence of positivity. Let’s as a people let go of the use of the N-word and bury the N-word where no generation could ever find it.

  1. Roderick – thank you for writing that. I was recently thinking of that exact scenario. My man and I were out years ago when a social ‘friend’ called out ‘my n…..’. I was furious at him and went off on him. He kept saying ‘its OK, he likes it’ to which I told him he’s more stupid than he looked! My boyfriend Thomas said he appreciated me having his back and that he just let that kind of thing roll off, as he was used to it. I told him it was never OK and I would always say so. Thank you for speaking my mind on this forum.

  2. Well you know that is never going to happen, just like the word Illegal Alien, beaner, or even wetback.

  3. This was great! “one sounds like a rightful act, fate and the other sounds and feel incredibly wrong. one sounds like a person that was law breaking, not caring about himself or others, under the influence of negativity. While the other sounds like a law abiding hard working, caring and loving person”—this is the best articulation of the history and power behind that word, in that one man yields power while the other doesn’t.
