Q. Would you state your name, please?
A. Velvie Lee Proffitt
Q. And how would you like me to address you?
A. Ms. Proffitt, please.
Q. Okay. Ms. Proffitt, how old are you?
A. Twenty-one (21).
Q. And where do you live?
A. In Floyd County.
Q. And are you originally from Floyd County?
A. Yes, I am.
Q. Could you get your voice up, please?
A. Yes, I am.
Q. And where are you employed?
A. At Hardee’s at Tanglewood.
Q. Okay. And that’s on 419 in Roanoke County?
A. Yes, it is.
Q. And how long have you been employed there?
A. Since 2009.
Q. Are you acquainted with David Bomber?
A. Yes, I am.
Q. And how do you know him?
A. As a boyfriend.
Q. And when did you first meet him?
A. 2000 — Maybe mid 2007, late 2008.
Q. Speak up, please.
A. Like —
Q. Please, you have to speak louder.
A. Later 2007, early 2008. Correct my statements earlier, if anybody heard that.
Q. And at some point did you relationship with Mr. Bomber become romantic?
A. Yes?
Q. And how would you describe your — At some point later on did the two (2) of you come to live together?
A. Yes, we did.
Q. And approximately, when was it that the two (2) of you came to live together?
A. In August 2008.
Q. August 2008, you estimate?
A. Or 2000 and — No 2009.
Q. Okay. And where did the two (2) of you reside together?
A. At Cinnamon Ridge, 5131 Overland Drive, Apartment C.
Q. Okay. Keep your voice up. Okay? Now how old is Mr. Bomber?
A. Thirty-eight (38).
Q. Okay. So, I mean, he is sixteen (16) or seventeen (17) years older than you?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. Now, at the time you and he started living together, were you working at Hardee’s?
A. I later became employed at Hardee’s.
Q. What were you doing at the time — the time you two (2) — the two (2) of you started living together?
A. I was partly unemployed. I moved in with him because of conflict issues going on in Floyd due to being kidnapped and taken to North Carolina.
Q. Okay. And you were —
THE COURT: I missed part of that, if you would look and pretend you are talking up to me and I’ve got to hear you. Tell me what you just said?
A. I moved in with him because of conflict being in — Floyd County where I had been kidnapped and taken to North Carolina.
THE COURT: Go ahead.
Q. Now, the — Do you own your own car?
A. No.
Q. I mean, do you have your — Well, at the time you and Mr. Bomber started living together at Cinnamon Ridge Apartments did you have your own car?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. And you are licensed to drive?
A. Yes.
Q. And you are still licensed to drive?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. But, you do not own a car today?
A. It’s not in my name. I do drive it.
Q. But, you have the use of a car?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. And when the two (2) of you all lived — together in Cinnamon Ridge, and you started working at Hardee’s, how would you get to and from work?
A. Mr. Bomber would take me to work, until my vehicle was brought down to me.
Q. Okay. So — And was this at your request?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. So, you asked Mr. Bomber to — to drive you to work?
MR. INGE: Answer out loud please.
A. Yes.
Q. And to pick you up when your shift ended?
A. Yes.
Q. And he did that?
A. Yes.
Q. Was he employed when you all were living together?
A. Yes.
Q. And what did he do?
A. He worked at Ryan’s and he also worked at Hopkins’.
Q. Ryan’s is what?
A. It’s a family steak house. It’s buffet.
Q. Okay. And what was the other place that he worked at?
A. GGI Hopkins’ as electrician.
Q. Okay. And on those occasions that he was at work, or working at one or the other, or both of those jobs, did you drive yourself to work?
A. When I had my vehicle restored. Yes.
Q. Okay. Now, as to — At some point did the — As of June 5th, 2010, did you go to work that day?
A. Yes, I did.
Q. What time did you have to be at work that day?
A. I do not recall.
Q. Okay. Was it in the morning?
A. Yes.
Q. And how did you get to work that day?
A. Mr. Bomber had to take me to work.
Q. Okay. Now, at the time, you all had been living together for how long?
A. Anywhere from the range of eight (8) months to ten (10) months.
Q. Okay. Were you pregnant?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. And you were pregnant with Mr. Bomber’s child?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. Mr. Bomber was married then, correctly?
A. Correct.
Q. Okay. But he was separated from his wife?
A. Yes.
Q. And he had two (2) children —
A. Yes.
Q. With his wife? What plans, if any, did you and Mr. Bomber have?
A. Making arrangement — Living together to take care of the kids eventually, after his divorce was finalized, to get married.
Q. Okay. And were you in love with him?
A. Yes.
Q. Okay. And are you still in love with him?
A. Yes.
