Standing between brown ground and clear skies is a black man;
In a world that doesn’t comprehend, realize or understand.
That this Black Man with his heavy load and his strong hands;
Is trying to live a simple life between instinct and circumstance.
His peers hear the same music so they’re out trying to do the same dance;
The world keeps looking down on him telling him he has no chance.
That woman that he loves most talks down on him and won’t lend a hand;
But he keeps going with a smiling face for his children who are his only fans.
His sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, only ever see a strong man;
So for his siblings and lovely children he’ll go out and take a bad chance.
When a bad chance goes wrong for that Black Man, that strong man;
Whose woman wouldn’t lend him a hand in a world that just wouldn’t understand.
That this Black Man was trying to do his dance with his heavy load and strong hands;
Trying to pave a way and stack bands but got caught between instinct and circumstance.
And his peers know why he took the chance but the world can’t seem to comprehend;
That this Black Man does all he can for his children who are his only fans.
