Imagine how you might live life differently if you were told today that you only had a week to live. How would you use you time? Would you obsess about all the things you’re never going to be able to do, or would you simply start doing the things you’ve always wanted to do? Would you think about all the loose ends in your life you have to tie up, or would you let them go and do something you’ve never done before?
It has often been said that there is no tomorrow; there’s only today, and time spent daydreaming, worrying, or bouncing back and forth between past and future will only prevent you from experiencing the moment in which you are living.
How you live each day can set the stage for how you’re going to live the rest of your life. Can you treat this day as a twenty-four-hour period untouched by the past or present? Notice everything about today – the sights, the sounds, the smells, and the way things feel. And notice everyone in your day – friends, family, coworkers, and strangers. Living fully in the present can allow you to see how full the present really is.
Do not sleepwalk through today. Experience the joy of being fully aware of each passing moment.
