I’m pretty happy, and I’m currently incarcerated. I understand that you can’t find you happiness from belongings, relationships, addiction, food etc…And I’ve read that you can’t let you outer circumstances dictate whether you are happy or not. Happiness needs to come from inner peace and being content. When I ask are you happy? What I mean is its not my job (or anyone else’s) to criticize or judge anyone. So if you are stuck in addiction, a relationship, or anything else that might not be making you happy, or giving you purpose in life. Then if your not happy change something, if you are happy stay the same. Nobody has the right to dictate how you live your life. If it makes you happy, do it. If not, change something.
As for me. I’m not happy, and not content to be in prison any longer. I was even more miserable, lost in my addiction. I was in a prison in my own mind.
I realize that life is not just about being happy. We are not going to be happy all the time. We literally need pain, trials, and tribulation to grow. We can’t just be happy all the time. They say only the strong survive. But I’ve survived my entire life. That’s no longer satisfactory for me. I’m ready to live-life, and be happy. So I realize most of this is choice.
So if you need to change something in you life, mind, heart, body or soul, do it.
Remember every day of life, freedom, family, sobriety, and love are a gift from God. So cherish them. Take life one day at a time. We never know how many more we have.
Thank you and God bless you all
