  1. Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek ME and find ME when you seek ME with all your heart!”

    The Tyranny of the Ideal

    Unrealistically birthed expectations
    might somewhat be managed by Youth’s zealous drive;
Bent on living to make each dream and each hope as ideal as planned even if such are lies.

But not to deceive others more than ourselves, (though this fact, oft hidden, from personal view).
Rather onward we press in CHRIST’s service, yet thinking our “best” shall be always attainable Truth.

Yea, always believing our heightened output will be possible, though many obstacles rise.
However, reality’s bite loves this challenge! As such, many saints find their frames don’t comply.

Hence comes the Tyranny of this Idyllic; the grandest ideal becomes “wishful thinking”…
when age and decline force the Youthful to fade for the decades have passed. Now Pain…enters in.

Oft walking or strolling but mostly with Vengeance; depressing our spirit from pushing it back.
Thus masked are its symptoms with medicine’s pills, so the cause and its roots remain…still intact.

Consequently, our range of effectiveness, declines though our minds seem attached to “deaf ears”.
Still pressing ourselves with Goal’s inspiration, Frustration soon gains greater ground…bound with Fear.

So I tell you the Truth! Do not forfeit Zeal! Though shipwreck befall you, though strength leave thy frame!
Rather set your sights high on HIM WHO is sovereign, discarding each HOW…while embracing HIS NAME!

As HIServant adjusting, whole focused on CHRIST,

Devotional: Colossians 3:2 “Feed on that which is above and not that which is in the Earth…”

Ironically, the verse found in Jeremiah 29:13 highlights JESUS as I have capitalized HIS reference…three times. ““You will seek ME and find ME when you seek ME with all your heart!” Taken out of context, the ME, ME, ME could appear as a selfish, human statement.

But for this devotional, it is a directive of upon WHOM we must set our affections and expectations!

The Tyranny of the Ideal thus focuses on the “how” and not WHO we are serving. Our bodies, when youthful, cam match dreams with the necessary effort to reach them. We feed then, unconsciously, on HIS service but not as much on WHO we are truly serving.

In like manner, with our giftings we serve CHRIST in one way…at present. But History shows that in years future that ability may fade into disability.

Hebrews 3:1 “Therefore, holy brothers, partners in a heavenly calling, keep your focus on JESUS, The Apostle and High Priest of our confession.”

So we must also change our expectations and avenues of service WHILE increasing our zeal and worship! So rise encouraged, Beloved! Ever faithful is HE WHO created us!

Thus! Refocusing from the “ideal” output of how we have been serving, we see HIS face most clearly and the chains of the Idyllic no longer despair us! Thank YOU, FATHER!

Your love for us IS Ideal! Amen and amen!
