One For Seasons by Jakob Helleis

Snowflakes find a place to fall precariously
Upon the open arms of the barren tree.
The last tenuous leafs twig breaks
Traveling upon the cold of the breeze
Causing few ripples on the flow of things.
The heat melts away the snow,
Perched birds rejoice in the show,
The soil softens to the touch,
The roots absorb the nutrients
So the branches bear the fruit that
Ripens in the company of warmth until
Skin glows with such vibrancy it
Tempts the soul, impatient for a taste.
Plucked from a yielding bough
No beauty has beguiled with haste.
