One day while sitting in the dayroom I thought, I need a fresh idea in building something new. I had already finished a complete 1965 Mustang GT Convertible and a football helmet out of paper and cardboard, Then it hit me why not a jewelry box.
So I went right to work gathering materials. I got some pencils a ruler, an eraser and paper to design it on, but it was the gathering of 8 to 10 tablet backings that would take some time. The jewelry boxes can take a couple of months to build.
The reason I enjoy building these jewelry boxes is to challenge myself. Every time I build one they become more elaborate. Buliding them tends to keeps my mind sharp and fills a void. It warms my heart to give them as gifts. Creating, challenging myself is very helpful in doing my time.
I intend to build jewelry boxes in between all my many other projects. Right now I’m in the middle of building a sand rail with all its working parts. Stay tuned for updates on that.
