It’s so amusingly tragic to me to hear conservative Christians talk about Caitlin Jenner and say that being transgender is “unnatural” and “against God’s plan” since she was born a man. Okay, do Christians really want to go with the idea that everyone is born exactly the way God planned for them? In that case, what about kids born with hairlips, or club feet, or born blind, or with cystic fibrosis, or sexual dimorphism, or even Down’s Syndrome? Did God plan for them to be that way? If so, God is a thug, and I’m glad we use modern science to try to help these people, to go against His wishes. Christians really ought to think a little bit more about the issues of transgenders. “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio…” Life is a lot more complicated (and wonderful) than the parrochial vision of these boring and ignorant conservatives.
