So Rand Paul has entered the presidential race for next year. It’s kind of amazing to see a guy run president who has spoken against our military presence in the world, against the War on Drugs, against mandatory minimum sentencing, and against corporate welfare (and actually seems to mean it). He even doesn’t care about things like gay marriage. And he’s a Republican! Which, unfortunately, is why he won’t be nominated in the primary. He’s not crazy enough for the mainstream Republican Party nowadays. He isn’t “strong” enough on immigration, overseas wars, and gay marriage. So Paul won’t get the Republican nomination … but neither will one of those mainstream Republicans have a chance of winning the election.
