The problem with so many guys in here is not that they have no values; it’s that they have the wrong values. A younger guy the other day was excited, going on and on, about how he had witnessed a fight. By the way he was acting, this was one of the highlights of his week, if not month or year. Why should we value two guys in prison beating the hell out of each other? Why should that be entertaining? Why should we care about cheap instant gratification from material things, and tough-guy reputation, and the ability to scam and use people? We shouldn’t. But these are the types of questions that guys in here don’t ever bother asking. It’s much easier to be lazy and never challenge yourself, to sit around being entertained by things that play to the lowest common denominators of humanity.
